A New Approach To Ceramics

Mutina creates design collections by working side by side with the best designers, architects, and artists to enhance the essence of ceramic material. Observing them, supporting them has always been the driving force of the company.

The interaction that arises, that creative, conceptual, and human exchange, has a fundamental impact on all projects that come to life at Mutina: whether it's a collection of ceramic coverings, a collective exhibition of contemporary art, or a collaboration on a major architectural project.

In this sense, Mutina's story is one born from dialogue. The fundamental dialogue among the brand's founders, who, at a time when everyone was following a set course, decided to turn around and go against the wind; the dialogue with designers who, embracing a completely new and experimental vision, chose to work with ceramics to bring it back to its true essence; the dialogue with the art world, which has always represented an intrinsic language and a fundamental reference, evolving into the Mutina for Art project. Each of these worlds maintains its ongoing dialogue with the material itself through experimentation and innovative technologies, aiming to achieve a product of the highest quality.

Mutina's products are produced with total respect for the environment. Various production aspects have been considered, both in terms of health preservation and quality.

OSSO

OSSO & BOTTONE COLLECTION, Patented Design

Designer: Ronan Bouroullec

The shape of Osso is obtained through perimeter cuts that thin the central
part, giving the single element a configuration similar to that of a bone.
In the juxtaposition of the individual modules, a play of shapes within shapes
is obtained, in which voids and solids dialogue with each other in an
alternation of complementary perceptions.

Osso & Bottone is the first Mutina collection intended explicitly for outdoor environments, but it also works perfectly indoor.

BOTTONE

OSSO & BOTTONE COLLECTION, Patented Design

The shape of Bottone is obtained by means of circular perimeter cuts which, in the juxtaposition of two pieces with a 4 mm joint, become perfect circles reminiscent of buttons. In the juxtaposition of the individual modules, a play of shapes within shapes is obtained, in which voids and solids dialogue with each other in an alternation of complementary perceptions.

PHENOMENON, Awards Winner, Patented Design

Phenomenon is a mosaic ceramic project able to express textures deriving from nature in an original way. The collection integrates almost microscopic substances into the ceramic material, creating a visual effect of depth and breadth on the surface.
The collection makes references to different expressions of natural patterns such as honeycombs, wind, air & rain.

Each element is pressed in the smallest possible size and precisely refined by hand to create a mix of technique and innovation, guaranteeing the highest quality.

ADAGIO, Patented Design

Designer: Ronan Bouroullec

Adagio is a project consisting of a series of ceramic modules designed by Ronan Bouroullec to be assembled and generate scenic wall sculptures.
The reticular structure resembles the fabric’s weave, whose three-dimensionality is made evident by the overlap of elements. The name refers to musical tempos and the slowness of the gesture: Adagio requires applying one piece at a time, following a sophisticated interlocking game.

Adagio took part in the Résonance exhibition, inaugurated on the 5th of March, 2024 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Adagio is now part of the permanent collection there.
